“Kind words can be short and easy to speak, but their echoes are truly endless.”

Mother Teresa

Mother Teresa is telling us that it’s good to be kind because it will always have a positive effect on a person. By being kind we will help others because they will feel good that we treated them nicely. If a person is having a bad day and we are kind to them that might change their attitude in a good way. She is telling us to be nice because if we are it will stay in a person’s head every time they look at you.
Occupational Therapist

Duties and Responsibilities:
Occupational Therapists help patients who are mentally, emotionally, or physically disabled adjust to handicaps and regain abilities to perform daily living and self-care skills.  They work as part of a team with physicians, counselors, and physical therapists.
Occupational therapists design therapy programs and work closely with patients to observe them, help them, and monitor their progress.  They frequently design special equipment to aid patients and help with their therapy.  They also teach patients how to adjust to work and home life after becoming disabled by injury or illness.  Most occupational therapists are employed at hospitals, and many work at nursing homes.  Some work at schools for the handicapped, rehabilitation centers, or at adult daycare centers.

Average Salary: $26,000-$45,000

Educational Requirements: Students must take the most challenging math, science, and English courses. Must have a bachelors or master’s degree that includes clinical experience in order to be a certified occupational therapist.

Reflection: I think that I would not like to be an occupational therapist because I don’t feel interested in counseling or psychologists which are both in the same field as an occupational therapist.

Student Success Statement

“The best way to predict your future is to create it.”

Charles ketterer

I agree with this statement because if you really want something you will work hard and do whatever you can to get it. You make your future with the things you do and the choices you make. If you make bad choices then your future is going to be filled with problems, but if you make good choice then your future will be a great one. Your future depends on the actions you make. Make your future a good one by setting goals and achieving it. If you et your mind to it you will achieve it and make it better.
Nursing Home Administrator

Duties and Responsibilities:
Nursing Home Administrators plan and direct operations of nursing homes and long-term care facilities.  They supervise personnel, financial, medical, and nursing administration.
Most work in nursing homes, but some work for large corporations that control many facilities.  Some are also involved in teaching and research.

Average Salary:   $40,000 - $55,000

Educational Requirements:
Students should take challenging high school courses in business, science, math, and English.
Requirements differ, but most states require nursing home administrators to have at least a bachelor's degree in nursing home administration, complete an additional internship program, and pass a comprehensive examination.

Reflection:  I would not like to become nursing home administrator because I would rather be a forensic anthropologist and this career doesn’t really match with a forensic anthropologist, or has anything to do with it. That’s why I think I wouldn’t like to be one.

The Assembly

I think that the assembly today was very funny but true. I love that they found a way to explain the rules to us in a fun way. They acted a lot like students and it was very informative at the same time. I think the teachers did a really good job. This assembly shows that the teachers actually care about us and take their time to make a show for us. I will be more respectful and responsible from now on. I won’t talk back to my teachers or use my electronics in class. I like the fact that I learned while having fun.

“Action is the foundational key to all success”

Pablo Picasso

Pablo Picasso is trying to tell us that if we want to succeed then we need to take action instead of just sitting down with our arms crossed waiting for good luck. We need to stop complaining and do something about it because if we don’t then no one else will do it for us. We need to try hard and not give up. That’s the only way we will be successful, if we don’t take action then we won’t succeed in life. Greatness only comes to those that work hard. Luck has nothing to do with how far we go in life, because we get everything we deserve. If we don’t take action we won’t succeed.

“Vision without action is a daydream. Action without a vision is a nightmare.”

Japanese Proverb

In my opinion, this statement is trying to tell us that if we have a vision we have to take action in order for that vision to come true or else it would be a daydream. If we have a vision but don’t do anything about it then nothing will change, but if we do whatever we have to make that vision true it will happen. If we have action but we don’t have a vision then it will be a nightmare because we won’t have anything to reach for and to motivate us. In order to succeed at something we need to have a vision and take action to make it happen.

Glenn Cunningham
Glenn Cunningham was an American runner born in Kansas. At the age of eight Cunningham’s legs were badly burned because of an accidental car explosion. Cunningham’s legs were so badly burned that the doctor’s recommended amputating them, because they thought he would never recover, Cunningham’s parents didn't allow the doctors to amputate them. Even though Cunningham’s legs were completely destroyed he took therapy classes and after two years he was almost fully recovered!

Glenn’s story teaches us that there are times where we are going to doubt ourselves and ask why things happen to us, but we need to learn how to overcome these situations, even if no one believes in you, you have to believe in yourself. You need to keep trying to get back on your feet when you fall even though it might seem impossible you need to stay determined.

“Adversity causes some men to break—others to break records”
William A. Ward

In my opinion I think this statement is trying to tell us that adversity might bring us down and get us depressed at times, but instead of letting it get us down we should use that to motivate us into reaching goals and accomplishing things. We need to use what we feel in a good way and try to beat our own records. The people that get sad and overwhelmed don’t get anything done, but those that use adversity to accomplish things end up breaking records.

Student Success Statement

"The best inspiration is not to outdo others, but to outdo ourselves."
In my opinion, this statement is telling us that we shouldn't try to beat others. We should try to beat ourselves because that will show how much effort we put in making ourselves better at something instead of wanting to beat everyone else,
