Bear Bryant
He was an American college football player and coach. He was
best known as the longtime head coach of the University of Alabama football
team. He was Alabama’s head coach for about 25 years. He got 6 national
championships and 13 conference championships. He held the record for most wins
as head coach in collegiate football history with 323 wins!
Bryant was offered a scholarship to play for the Alabama. After
joining the team he became an NFL hall-famer. After graduating in 1936 he took a coaching
job. In 1954 Bryant accepted a coaching job at the University of Alabama. By
1964 Bryant was known all around because he won several championships. Bryant
coached at Alabama for 25 years, winning six national titles. For years Bryant was
accused of racism because he wouldn’t allow black people to join the team but
it was a rule that he had to follow. He then talked to the administrators and
they finally let him enroll blacks into the team. Paul was known as an excellent
football coach and he will always be one of the greatest.
