The quote that Robert stated is trying to tell us that choosing the right isn't going to be easy and we might suffer if we decide to do whats right, but in the end it will bring us good consequences. Robert is saying that if we choose the right we will have to have courage because it wont be easy, but if we do the right things we wont have any regrets. He is saying that if we decide to choose the wrong we will have a conscience filled with regret, overall he is telling us to choose the right no matter how hard it may seem because in the end we will succeed.
